My Story
My name is Laszlo, but my friends call me Laz. I am originally from Hungary, Europe. I always wanted to work in healthcare. My father was a forensic specialist MD and my grandfather was a primary care provider MD. I was CPR certified at the age of 14 and taught CPR and first aid to middle school aged kids when I was in high school through the Hungarian Red Cross' Initiative. The students who I had taught participated and won the local and regional first aid and CPR competition out of 11 teams, whereas all of the other teams were prepared by paramedics or emergency care doctors. They advanced to the national competition where they finished in a good position. After graduating from high school, I attended Semmelweis University and obtained my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree.
While I was attending nursing school as an RN student, I fell in love with intensive care and worked in this field for several years. A few months after graduating as an RN in June 2002 in Budapest, Hungary, I was given an opportunity to work in the US as an RN through an American nurse recruitment company. While I was working full-time in critical care on a rotating shift basis, I was preparing for my NCLEX, which I passed on the first attempt in October 2003. I have worked in several of the biggest national institutions in Hungary: Central Hospital of Department of Justice, National Medical Center, National Institute of Cardiology and the Polyclinic of the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John's, all of which are located in Budapest, Hungary, as a CCU/ICU RN.

I worked in the Hungarian healthcare system from 1998 to 2007. After a lot of studying and paperwork in the second half of 2007, my dream finally came true. I packed up my life and moved to New York City, where I started to work on a telemetry/overflow ICU/overflow ED unit as an RN. I quickly became the charge RN on the night shift and, in 2009, I decided to further my education and get my Master's degree in Healthcare Administration and earn my legal nursing credentials. I graduated at the top of my class in both of these schools.
I lived in New York City until 2015, when I moved to Florida. Here in Florida, I worked as a clinical care coordinator, in quality management for a health insurance company, and, since 2019, in hospital management. One of my two passions in healthcare is nursing Leadership, with a capital L, wherein I can show that a Healthcare Leader can be someone whose staff and doctors admire because he is approachable, reliable, available, open to solve their problems, and stands up for them. My other passion is nursing education. I have served as an instructor, mentor, and preceptor throughout my career, teaching the next generation of nurses, patient care associates, and medical students. I enjoy teaching and it comes as a second nature to me.
